Gambling can be hard to talk about. It can feel like something you should be able to handle on your own, or something you are not quite ready to name yet. Maybe you are worried about someone you love. Maybe you are looking for information and not sure what to do with it yet.
This site exists for exactly that moment.
GetGamblingHelp.com is Minnesota's free, confidential resource for people who are concerned about gambling, whether it is their own, a partner's, a child's, or a loved one's. It offers information, support options, and connections to free services available to Minnesota residents. There is no pressure here, and no commitment required to look around.
Who Is Behind This Site
GetGamblingHelp.com is a program of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). DHS funds and oversees the site as part of Minnesota's broader behavioral health commitment to addressing the harms of problem gambling.
The Minnesota Department of Human Services does not sell products, run advertisements, or have any financial relationship with the gambling industry. This site exists solely to provide Minnesotans with accurate information and free access to support.
The helpline, financial counseling program, and referral services offered through this site are funded by the state of Minnesota and are available at no cost to qualifying residents.
Free and Publicly Funded
Every service connected to this site (the helpline, counseling referrals and financial counseling through GamFin) is available to Minnesota residents at no cost. These programs are funded by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. There is nothing to pay and nothing to sign up for just to get information.
A Note on Scope
This site focuses on information, support, and referrals; it is not a treatment program, and it is not a crisis intervention service. If someone is in immediate danger, please call 911 or 988.
GetGamblingHelp.com is designed for people at any stage of concern, not just those in acute crisis. Whether you are still figuring out whether gambling is a problem, looking for information on behalf of someone you care about, or ready to connect with a counselor, there is something here for you.
The site does not diagnose, and it does not require you to identify in any particular way to access information or support. You can read, reflect, and reach out at whatever pace makes sense for you.
A Note on For Press, Researchers, and Community Partners
GetGamblingHelp.com is Minnesota's official public-facing resource for problem gambling support, operated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Media inquiries, partnership requests, and research collaboration inquiries can be directed to Minnesota DHS.
Community organizations, treatment providers, and social service agencies that work with Minnesotans affected by gambling are encouraged to link to and share this resource. All content on this site is publicly available and may be referenced freely.
For partnership or referral inquiries related to the GamFin financial counseling program, please visit gamfin.org directly, or reach out to GamFin at support@gamfin.org.
